Day 2 - To Scotland

No breakfast booked at Motorway hotel, the plan is to get a nice Lake District breakfast. For many years we had done summer camping near Kendal and used to get a nice breakfast at a cafe in Ings. So thats where we headed.

It seems that the cafe is no more but we remembered that nearby Staveley had a cafe. This turned out to be a real treat for breakfast. As we came out of the cafe it was drizzling so we quickly loaded into the car and set off to the Kirkstone Pass. We took some time near the Kirkstone Inn for a photo opportunity and the weather had improved a little. Next stop was Patterdale for a stroll on the lake and a coffee. The weather was brighter again. Our final destination for our mini Lakes tour was Pooley Bridge. Here we called in the Pub got some soup and did a bit of shopping before setting off for our Hotel in Scotland. Weather improving all the time.

It was on this journey when E cracked the best joke of the holiday. A1 says "We have left the Bonsi Tree with a tap dripping on it to keep it alive." E quickly pipes up from the back "We have one of those", we obliged with the obvious answer "What,.. a Bonsi Tree?", and with quick 2 Ronnys timing she replied "No a dripping tap."... This says quite a lot about the quality of the jokes on the rest of the holiday!

We stayed in a Hotel at a place called Larkhall, several miles South of Glasgow. We have stayed at this hotel before and it did not disappoint this time. The beer and wine were quickly flowing nicely and the food was great (no black-pudding and ice-cream this time).

There was meant to be a Take That tribute band in the evening but just like the real band, they had just split up and so were replaced with Robbee and Kylee (names changed to indicate look alikes). Close enough I suppose?

We ended the night with a cocktail that sounded better than it tasted (as do most cocktails).

A great day and a great way to end it.

At the Kirkstone Pass (Red Screes?)

Patterdale and Ulswater

We all had a Cool Running

The bar had an organ!
A2 always has an eye for a nice pic (At Patterdale)
